Each talk has a spine that does not change and a body that does. Brian learns your audience on a call, then builds the stories, examples and language around them.

Brian Germain speaking — Transcending Fear

Keynote · Signature talk

Transcending Fear

Every audience is afraid of something. The quarter. The reorg. The new system nobody asked for. The conversation they have been avoiding since spring. Most talks about fear tell people to be brave. This one shows them what fear is actually for, and how to aim it.

Brian spent thirty years watching people meet fear at an open door, and learned that the ones who did it well were not fearless. They had a method. Name it, breathe, decide what matters in the next ten seconds, then move. He teaches that method, on stage, with the stories that earned it.

  • A working definition of fear that people can use in a meeting on Monday.
  • A three-step reset for the moment right before a hard thing.
  • Permission to say it out loud. Teams that name fear together move faster than teams that don't.
Length 45 to 60 minutesAlso as half-day workshopBest for sales kickoffs, leadership summits, all-hands

Brian Germain speaking — Fearless Leadership

Keynote · For leaders

Fearless Leadership

Everyone has worked for a person who became fast and frenetic under pressure. Some, however, got calmer and clearer as things got more intense. This talk offers a plan for building this ability in yourself, and in everyone on your team.

The core idea: people follow the steadiest nervous system in the room. Steadiness is a set of habits that can be trained. Grace is contagious, and it is the most under-taught skill in leadership. Brian shows how to build this ability in yourself, and how to make it the culture in your community.

  • The vibe is what counts: the excitement of the adventure is what alchemizes stress into productivity.
  • Habits for leaders that lower the temperature of every room they walk into, and bring the energy back up in a genuine feeling of hope.
  • A team is a conversation: if our discussions become driven by a desire to connect and cooperate, fear turns into the enthusiasm that gets things done. Wisdom can come from anywhere, and an open-minded leader is a wise leader. Ego squelches opportunity.
Length 45 to 60 minutesAlso as executive workshop, firesideBest for executive teams, healthcare, first responders, operations

Brian Germain speaking — The Mindset of Innovation

Keynote · For teams that change

The Mindset of Innovation

As a creator of change in the skydiving world, Brian Germain has always been a bit of a rebel. His unique perspective is born from the assumption that we are not done creating the world. His improvements to the state of the art in parachute design and teaching methods have made the world a better place, on purpose. You can take this same approach of transcendence to your office, your organization, and the mental constructs that have defined these systems in the past.

  • An open mind: believing that we know what we are doing is what limits the expansion of our paradigm.
  • A brave mind: new ideas are most often met with resistance, and tenacity to passionate purpose will be required for powerful change-makers.
  • An expanding heart: the heart is not only our connection to love and connection, it is how we feel our way into guidance from our own wisdom. Passion is a natural, internal navigational system that we can leverage to tap into the wellspring of creativity inherent in all of us.
